Pizzo di Claro

The Pizzo di Claro, also called Visagno is, with 2'727 m above sea level. M. the southernmost striking views of mountain Adula Alps. His mighty trapezoidal shape dominates the Valle Leventina and the Magadinoebene.

Geography

The summit of Pizzo is the Claro with its western side around 2400 meters above the village Claro on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden in the Lepontine Alps. There are two peaks, of which the northern 7 m is higher than the southern. From the South Summit is seen Bellinzona and the Riviera district and the North Summit on Cresciano. In the east it rises at Arvigo about the Grisons Calancatal. West of the summit lies on 2'198 meters above sea level. M. the small lake Laghetto di Cance.

Ascent and descent routes

From the parking Mondan 1'640 m above sea level. M. above Arvigo in Calancatal is a walking path to the Alp da Stabveder 1'948 m above sea level. M.. From there the road is barely visible and only cairns have to unnamed pass at 2,270 m above sea level. M.. Via the eastern side it is on the main northern Summit and southern side peak to the summit cross. The descent is along the same route (about 7 hours Difficulty T3).

A variant is the ascent from Landarenca 1'272 m above sea. M. in Calancatal, which can be reached by cable railway Selma Landarenca.

For the two-day exceeded, take the cable car Lumino - Monti di Saurù 1'215 m above sea level. M. and increases in 2 hours to Brogoldone Hut ( Capanna Brogoldone ) 1,910 m above sea level. M. upstairs where you can stay. From there it rises above the point 2'362 m above sea. M. southeast to the summit. The descent to the west across the Lago di Cance, Cance the Alps and Peurett, via Corte, Benz, Moncrino by Claro ( total time approximately 9 hours, difficulty T4).

A multi-day trail at the foot of Pizzo di Claro leads from Lumino from over barking, Monte di Giova (modern Church of Nostra Signora di Fatima), Barking, Brogoldone hut Monti ( mountain pastures ) of Savorù ( cable car to Lumino ), Benedictine Monastery Santa Maria Assunta ( Monastero di Santa Maria, founded in 1490. It is accessible by a small cable car from the valley ), Via di Castagni along by Claro ( total time about 11 hours).
