Planorbarius corneus

The Planorboidea are a superfamily of water snails ( Basommatophora ). They stand out among others by left-handed case and by long thin antennas. Moreover speak molecular genetic findings for the close relationship of this group.

There are two occurrences in Central Europe this family, the

• Plate screw ( Planorbidae )
• Bladder snails ( Physidae )

In some cases the two families and the rank of their own superfamily, however, was granted and the common taxonomic unit then on the level of a partial order ( Infraordo ) Planorboinei (1993 Planorboinei H. Nordsieck ,) to raise.
