Plastic Ono Band

The Plastic Ono Band was initially just a name under which John Lennon and Yoko Ono released their first single Give Peace a Chance in July 1969. An actual group of the same name did not exist at this time. For their appearance at the Rock Festival in Toronto a unique live band was founded in September 1969, under the name together, which then also on their studio albums John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band and Yoko Ono / Plastic Ono Band (both 1970) supported Lennon and Ono.

History

The band was founded in 1969 by Lennon and Ono to attend a gig at the rock festival in Toronto (Canada) in September 1969. Other members were Alan White, Klaus Voormann and Eric Clapton.

The group had not completed any single sample, as she opened the door on the plane from London to Toronto. Was rehearsed on the plane, right next to the engines. John Lennon practiced with the other band members, some rock ' n' roll classics such as a Money ( That's What I Want) and Blue Suede Shoes. In addition, they played the Beatles Yer Blues piece of the so-called White Album and the new compositions Lennon's Cold Turkey and Give Peace a Chance. The other half of the repertoire consisted of Yoko Ono compositions Do not worry, Kyoko and John, John.

The appearance in Toronto also mediated Yoko Ono Bagism concept. She spent long stretches of their time on the stage in a white bag wrapped. The conclusion sung by their titles were mostly accompanied only by guitar feedback.

In addition to the Toronto concert the band did only one more appearance. The concert in Toronto was published as LP Live Peace in Toronto 1969 in the same year. In 1988, the hitherto held under lock and video footage of the Toronto concert was also released. Both audio and video material to the present re-issued. Without that it would have passed as a fixed formation, the group, John Lennon has the band name used on his subsequent LPs to 1975. In 1975, the Plastic Ono Band was finally resolved.

2009 awakened the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band back to life. It was initially an EP released the name Do not Stop Me! bears. On 21 September 2009, the album Between My Head and the Sky appeared.
