He also played as a studio musician on several albums famous rock artists such as John Lennon, George Harrison, Joe Cocker, Ginger Baker and The Ventures.

Biography

At the age of six years White piano began to play. Later he joined the drums and was already 13 years a member of several local bands. After working in various bands in the 1960s, he became in 1968 a member of Ginger Baker 's Air Force. The following year he was hired by John Lennon on the Plastic Ono Band. He also played on Lennon's solo album Imagine. Lennon made White also known by his fellow Beatles George Harrison. He then played on his album All Things Must Pass.

1972 was Alan White with Joe Cocker on tour when he received an offer to join the band Yes. Shortly after meeting with the two Yes - founding members Jon Anderson and Chris Squire played White already for a concert of Close to the Edge tour. White replaced Bill Bruford in Yes, who joined King Crimson. Alan White should incorporate more rock elements in the music of Yes by Bill Bruford's jazz approach. As a result, White has played more at all Yes studio albums Tales From Topographic Oceans from making it one of the most consistent members of a band that is characterized by constant personnel changes. In addition to drumming up White also participated in the composition of the pieces.

1975/1976 published any Yes member a solo album. Whites plate bore the name Ramshackled and was by all five solo albums that which was farthest from the style of his master tape. On Ramshackled there is even progressive rock, but in addition also pop, jazz, rock and reggae.

White

It was only in 2006, Alan White released another album under his own name. White is both the name of the album and the band that it grossed. From a second solo project so it can not be any question. The drummer played it one with members of the Seattle bands MerKaBa and Treason and Yes and Asia keyboardist Geoff Downes, who were all involved in the creation of music. The album cover comes from fantasy artist Roger Dean. The band played several live concerts, a bigger tour, however, came not materialize until today. This is particularly regretted by the fans who love the Yes album Drama, but also have White always played drama material. As well as the planned 2005 The More Drama Tour of the bands The Syn ( with Yes bassist Chris Squire ) and White was canceled with Steve Howe, decreased the chances of ever hearing again Drama material live on.
