Platitude (Band)

Platitude was a Swedish progressive- and power metal band from Nässjö, which was founded in 1995 and again in 2008 disbanded.

History

The band was founded in 1995. After the first demo was released in 2001, a record contract followed in spring 2002 with Scarlet Records. The debut album Secrets of Life was recorded in early August with producer Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios to. The Japanese version was released in February 2003. In May 2003, the band went along with Manticora on tour through Europe. Keyboardist Tommie Lundgren was replaced by Kristofer from Wachenfeldt. On the European tour, the band played in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Denmark. This was followed by two concerts with Threshold in Germany.

In November 2004, shooting began for the second album called Nine. In summer 2004, higher Marcus left the band and was replaced by drummer Andreas Brobjer. The first appearance together with Brobjer followed on the ProgPower Europe. Shortly thereafter, guitarist Daniel Hall left the band and was replaced by Johan Randen. During the Christmas season of 2004, the planning for the shooting began for the third album Silence Speaks, which started in April 2005. The album was producibility in the Jailhouse Studios with Tommy Hansen. In December 2005, Andreas Brobjer moved to California. The remaining band members devoted themselves to their side projects until Erik Wigelius came in early 2007 as the new drummer for the band.

On 28 December 2008, the band announced their dissolution.

Style

The band plays progressive power metal and is described as a mixture of Helloween and Symphony X.
