Plešivec, Slovakia
Plešivec ( German Pleissnitz - older even Pleschnitz, Hungarian Pelsőc ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 2383 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011).
Geography
The municipality is located in the valley of the river Slaná at its confluence with the river Štítnik at the foot of the Slovak Karst, 17 km from Rožňava and 44 km from Rimavská Sobota. Mostly located in the land three plateaus: Koniar, Plešivecká planina planina and Silická.
History
The village was first mentioned in 1243 as Plesouch. In 1328 it received its town charter, in 1558 it was occupied by the Turks. She is one of the historical administrative seat of the county Gemer ( 18th and partly 19th century) and was thus until 1918 in the county mentioned a part of the Kingdom of Hungary. Then she came to the newly created Czechoslovakia, but had to be assigned on the basis of the First Vienna Award 1938-1945 in Hungary.

Traffic
The town has a station on the railway line Zvolen, Košice. The local routes to Muráň and Slavošovce branch off the place. The main street 50 ( Zvolen - Rožňava - Košice ) runs past the site.
