Plestin-les-Grèves

Plestin -les- Greves ( Breton: Plistin ) is a commune with 3643 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Côtes- d'Armor in the Brittany region; it belongs to the administrative district in the canton of Lannion and Plestin -les- Greves, whose capital it is.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the English Channel coast in the Baie de Lannion, about 150 kilometers north- west of Rennes and 70 kilometers northeast of Brest. Plestin -les- Greves lies with its northern part on a peninsula, surrounded by the Baie de Locquirec and to the east of the bay Grève de Saint Michel in the West. Beyond the Baie de Locquirec is the place Locquirec, beyond the Grève de Saint Michel the town of Saint -Michel -en- Grève. In the west the municipality borders the neighboring département of Finistère. The community center of Plestin -les- Greves itself is located about three kilometers from the coastline.

Immediate neighboring communities in the southern part are:

  • Tréduder in the east,
  • Plufur in the southeast,
  • Trémel in the south,
  • Plouégat- Guérand in the west and
  • Guimaëc in the northwest.

At the southwest boundary of the municipality flows into the river Douron in the beautiful bay Baie de Locquirec, on the eastern edge of the municipality runs the River Yar, which empties into the Bay Grève de Saint Michel. The central portion is drained by the creek Dour Meur.

The community is only accessible by the department of road D786 which leads from Morlaix to Lannion.
