Pliny is a lunar impact crater on the northeast front, between Mare Serenitatis and Mare Tranquillitatis in the south. Northwest of Pliny the end Montes Haemus in the foothills of the promontory Archerusia. A system of lunar grooves Rimae Pliny, run thence in a northeasterly direction.
The crater has pronounced terracing and a central peak inside.
The crater was officially named in 1935 the elders of the IAU by the Roman naturalist Pliny.
