Plone (software)

Plone is an enterprise content management system, written in the Python programming language. Version 1 was released in 2002. It can be used for intranet and extranet applications, as Document publishing system and used as a groupware tool for long stretches. Numerous extensions allow the application for every conceivable application server tasks: for example, in e-learning, as an online shop, or as a photo album.

It builds on the open source application server Zope and the accompanying Content Management Framework, which is supported by thousands of developers around the world. Plone is regarded as the most successful project based on Zope.
