Podslurping

Podslurping ( German as (i ) Pod sip ) denotes the theft of data using a mobile mass storage device such as a USB stick, MP3 player or an iPod. Here, the perpetrator installed special software on the storage medium, which is started automatically after the connection to a PC and on the hard disk for interesting data, such as passwords or other security-related information searches. These are then copied to the stick and can be evaluated later in the rest of the attacker. Since a USB flash drive is very small, you can discreetly take it with you and plug in somewhere.

This ability to go to third-party data can be prevented by restricting or disabling the USB functionality of the computer. There are already security products from multiple vendors, which shield or disable the USB port all the computer's operating system to USB storage media.

On Unix -based operating systems allow the integration of USB devices easily prevent and Microsoft also published a guide to prevent Podslurping.
