Poguetry in Motion

Occupation

Poguetry in Motion is an EP by the British folk - punk band The Pogues. She reached into the UK album charts in 29th place and was the first single of the band, was also placed in the Top 40.

History

The songs from the EP were never published regularly on an album the Pogues, but they later appeared as bonus tracks on Rum, Sodomy & the Lash

"Body of an American " was used in a scene of the American television series The Wire. The band played the song as second in their appearance in the U.S. comedy series Saturday Night Live. Shane MacGowan began the song clearly drunk and finished him smoking and drinking on the drum riser sitting.

" Planxty Noel Hill " refers to the renowned Irish musician Noel Hill. Hill had made the statement that the Pogues would disregard the Irish music tradition. On the first Irish tour of the band members took some along with Hill in a panel discussion on Irish radio, while the Hill described the music of the Pogues as a " terrible freak " ( "terrible abortion" ). The word " Planxty " comes from the Irish harpist Turlough O'Carolan, it is used as a greeting and to eg a variation of the Irish drinking award be sláinte, but there are several theories.
