Pokrzywno, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Pokrzywno ( German Nesselgrund ) is a village in the powiat Kłodzki in the Province of Lower Silesia in Poland. It is located thirteen kilometers north-west of Bystrzyca Kłodzka ( Habelschwerdt ) away to the urban and rural community it belongs to.

Geography

Pokrzywno located in the eastern foothills of the mountains on the Habelschwerdter Province Road 388, which runs from Bystrzyca Kłodzka Polanica -Zdrój. Neighboring towns are Sokolowka in the north, Nowy Wielisław in the northeast, southeast and Starkówek Kostera ( Rinneberg ) and Paszków in the southeast. Southeast rise of 870 m high Vogelsberg ( Smolna ) and the 704 m high Steinberg ( Kamienna ).

History

Nesselgrund belonged to the county of Glatz, and consisted of two parts, separated by county boundaries:

  • Nesselgrund, share circle Glatz with Gutsbezirk Nesselgrund. This proportion belonged since 1874 to the District Altheide and thus to the county of Glatz. For this portion of the District Nesselgrund 1911 was formed, which was dissolved again in 1926. At the same time, the inclusion of this portion was done in the rural community Altheide.
  • Nesselgrund, share circle Habelschwerdt with Oberförsterei. This proportion belonged to the district Habelschwerdt, and together with Pohl village and a forest share of Bad Reinerz since 1874 own office district.

Of economic importance in addition to the agriculture and forestry was the occurrence of pure quartz sand, which, inter alia, was delivered to the Frederick Grunder Glashütte.

As a result of World War II Nesselgrund fell in 1945 as almost all of Silesia to Poland and was renamed Pokrzywno. The German population was expelled. The new inhabitants were partly displaced persons from eastern Poland. From 1945 Pokrzywno belonged to the powiat Bystrzycki, which was founded in 1975, as well as the competent until then Wrocław Voivodeship dissolved. 1975, came to the newly formed Province Wałbrzych, which existed until 1998.
