Pommard

Pommard is a commune and a wine village with 523 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), in Burgundy, in the department of Côte- d'Or. Pommard is located about 20 km south of Dijon and bordering on the south of Volnay and north-east of Beaune. Pommard is part of the Côte de Beaune. The inhabitants are called Pommardois.

Pommard dates back to antiquity. It is said that the name came from Pomona, the goddess of fruits and gardens, which was worshiped by the original inhabitants.
