The Pont d' Arcole is a bridge across the Paris Branch of the Seine. It is located in the 4th arrondissement, and links the Quai des Gesvres and the Quai de l' Hôtel de Ville on the Right Bank ( Rive droite ) with the Quai de la Corse and the Quai aux Fleurs on the Île de la Cité. Over the bridge performs a two-lane road.

Construction

The Pont d' Arcole is an arch bridge made ​​of wrought iron with a length of 80 m and a height of 20 m. It consists of 1120 tons of steel.

History

Since 1828 there was a pedestrian bridge at the site of the present bridge. Increased traffic but made ​​to build a larger bridge required. Between 1854 and 1856 was therefore built according to the plans of Alphonse Oudry and Nicolas Cadiat architects. The construction costs amounted to 1.15 million French francs. The Pont d' Arcole was the first Parisian bridge without pillars. In addition, it is made entirely of wrought iron instead of cast iron.

1954 and 1955, the bridge was completely renovated.
