Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria
Bishop Tawadros II (also Theodor, Coptic Ⲡ ⲁ ⲡ ⲁ Ⲁ ⲃ ⲃ ⲁ Ⲑ ⲉ ό ⲇ ⲱ ⲣ ⲟ ⲥ, Arabic البابا تواضروس الثاني, DMG al - Bābā Tawāḍurūs at- Tani, Egyptian- Arabic تواضروس التانى بابا; * as Waǧīh Subhi Baqi Sulayman on November 4, 1952 in Mansura, Egypt) is since 2012 the Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria and Pope of the chair of St. Mark.
Life
The father of Wagih Sobhi Baki Solayman was a landscape architect. At the age of five years Sobhi Solayman and his family moved to Sohag, where the father had a job, and three years later to Damanhur, where he attended a Coptic school. Wagih was scion of a devout Coptic family and had two sisters. He also attended Sunday school. Later he studied at the University of Alexandria Pharmacy ( Degree: 1975) and was then managing director of a state pharmaceutical operation based in Damanhur. In 1986, he was in the desert monastery of Deir Anba Bischoi ( Red Monastery ) in the Sketischen desert monk. In 1988 he made his perpetual vows and received the ordination as a monk; followed a year later ordained as a priest.
Bishop
In 1997 he was the choice of the Synod to the General Bishop ( Bishop ) in the Egyptian Damanhur governorate al - Buhaira in the Nile Delta. The episcopal ordination was carried out by the Coptic Pope Shenouda III.
Since the death of Pope Schenudas III. 17 March 2012 was Tawadros on the staff of the Interim Church leader Pachomius.
Pope
It is the 118th pontiff of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He was born on November 4, 2012 by lot as a successor to the late 17 March 2012 Shenouda III. selected. The formal establishment as Tawadros II took place on November 18, 2012 during a mass held in the Cairo St. Mark's Cathedral, in Alexandria, the seat of the Coptic Pope next to St Mark's Cathedral.
