Poręba, Gmina Leśnica

Poremba (Polish Poręba ) is a place in the bilingual Polish community Leschnitz in powiat Strzelecki of the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Poremba is located approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Opole and 3 kilometers north of Leschnitz in the historic Upper Silesia.

Poremba is an unusual for the Opoler country Waldhufendorf. It lies in a long narrow valley. From here a scenic very interesting Kalvarienweg to St. Annaberg, which is lined with many chapels and remarkable trees. In the center of Poremba are a Church of the Assumption and one named after Edmund Bojanowski nursing home. Near the road to Leschnitz is an estimated of pilgrims as a resting place Vaucuserquelle that never freezes and " Seven Springs " is. The Springing here water supplies the Padole -Bach ( Padol ) flowing through Leschnitz and the place for centuries supplies the water.

History

The name of the village Poremba means " a place in the forest where trees are beaten ." Poremba was already mentioned in 1485 as Poramba. In the 15th and 16th centuries this village the famous knight Strela family, founders of the first church on the St. Annaberg belonged. It should be emphasized that the area of the mountain for a long time also belonged to the estates of Poremba. 1637 bought Melchior Ferdinand of Gaschin the village Poremba. 1720 the village had 97 inhabitants, in 1861 325, 1910 342 and 1996 271 persons.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on 20 March 1921 which was accompanied in the area of civil wars, voted in Poremba 149 people to remain in Germany and 129 for Poland. Poremba remained as the entire voting district of Gross Strehlitz the German Reich.

From 1933 the new Nazi rulers large-scale renaming of place names of Slavic origin conducted. 1936, the village name was changed to Marie Poremba reason.

1945 was the place as Poręba to Poland.

In 2006, a Leschnitz the community to which it belongs Poremba as the district, as an auxiliary language, and German in 2008 bilingual place names.
