Portals Nous

The place is located in the southwest of the island, in the region of Pariatge and overlooks the sea. It belongs to the municipality of Calvià and had in 2011 2676 inhabitants.

Tourism

With 1534 beds strangers in 2010 Portals Nous is one of the smaller resorts on Mallorca. In the village is a large marina, next to it the promenade Marina Portals in 1986 was built with exclusive shops and restaurants. The town itself has a mixed structure and is particularly visited by British and Spanish holidaymakers.

Beach

The beach of Portals Nous, the Platja de l' oratorio, is located in a rocky bay, which is bounded by the pier on one side and a rock face on the other side. On the cliff above the beach there is an observation deck with view of the neighboring bays.

In about 300 meters from the beach is preceded by a 100 meter wide unnamed rocky island. Due to the offshore island reigns in the central area of beach, a small swell, which also enables longer average swimmers swimming in the sea or to the island. There is yet another, much smaller beach that bears the name of Platja de Portals Nous. Right on this beach there is a large sports complex with seven tennis courts and other sports facilities.

Traffic

Since March 2007, the highway MA -1 from Andratx to Palma is completed. This leads past the site, so there is a quick link to the island's capital. The center of Palma is about 12 kilometers from the center of Andratx about 20 kilometers away.

Personalities

• Portals Nous was the retirement home of the deceased there in 2008 German environmental and landscape artist Herman Prigann.
