Portland is a city in San Patricio County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in southeast Texas, about 12 km northeast of Corpus Christi, on the west by the Nueces Bay, on the southeast by the Corpus Christi Bay, about 25 km from the Gulf in the southeast of Mexico and has a total of 24, 9 km ², of which 6.8 km ² water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 14,827 people in 5,021 households and 4,051 families. The population density was 820.2 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 83.79 % White, 4.11 % African American, 0.57 % Native American, 1.05 % Asian, 0.20 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 7.43 % from other ethnic groups.
