Divided lake

The post see (formerly also Pastsee ) is a lake west of the city Preetz in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein. It extends in the southwest - northeast direction.

In a Seespiegelniveau of 20.6 m above sea level. NN he has an area of ​​276.4 ha at the post see are the villages mail box, Waldsieversdorf and Pohnsdorf. It is located in the municipalities Preetz, Pohnsdorf, post box and Kühren.

Naturally, there is the post see from a northern and southern basin one, between which there was a Seeenge at Waldsieversdorf. During the construction of light railway Kirchbarkau - Preetz Luetjenburg a dam there was heaped up and built a bridge. After degradation of the railway in 1938 this way is only used by cyclists and pedestrians. Its most important tributary, the Old Schwentine ( Kührener Au ) opens, east of Post field in the south, leaving the northern part in Preetz and eventually flows into the Schwentine.

The lake in 1915 was given as 341.7 ha, has thus been reduced by about 65 ha. This is partly due to siltation, but also partly to the lowering of the lake level, which has been pursued in the 19th century. The water level in 1915 is 21.5 m above sea level. NN indicated, and therefore is about 80 cm above the current one. The water level in the post see fluctuated 1954-1966 by one meter, with values ​​between 20.5 m and 21.0 m above sea level were frequent.

Northern part of the lake Post

The floor of the north basin falls from the shore off more steeply than in the southern part of the lake, which manifests itself in the northern tip of the lake, the horn, with cliff formations on the west bank. On the seabed there are several depressions with a depth of 6 m and 8 m. The average depth of the northern part is 3.89 m. A large island in the south was the Seespiegelabsenkung to the peninsula, whereas in the horn of a new island emerged with an area of ​​0.23 ha. The only major tributary to the northern part is the Neuwührener Au.

Southern part of the lake Post

The floor of the southern lake basin slopes from post box to Sieversdorfer bridge gradually and reached before Waldsieversdorf its greatest depth of 9.1 m. The average water depth is 3.93 m. Located in the southern part there is a 0.25 -acre overgrown with alders and willows island.
