Rosensee

The Rosensee is a lake in the Holstein Switzerland over the Schwentine.

History

The lake was created as a reservoir to 1908 during the construction of hydroelectric power plants Schwentine by the shipyard founder Bernhard Howaldt and is now an elementary part of the landscape park Schwentine. For this purpose, Bernhard Howaldt had been buying up land along the Schwentine to the lands of Count Rantzau and the monastery Preetz. The price of an acre at that time was about 2,000 Mark. By the hydroelectric plant Raisdorf 1 at the mill Rastorfer Raisdorf was first supplied with electricity in 1904. In 1909 the hydroelectric plant Raisdorf 2 The power plants are now a protected monument and being operated and maintained by the city of Kiel works.

In the course of extensive renovation work at the hydroelectric plant Raisdorf 2 of Rosensee 2004 for more than three months had to be drained.
