Power Snooker

Power Snooker is a variation of Billiard Snooker discipline.

Tournaments

On 30 October 2010, the Power Snooker Masters for the first time at the Snooker Main Tour in indigO2 Arena in London presents (although without a world ranking points). The event was broadcast live on ITV4 and Euro Sport.

It was announced quite quickly that more events should follow when the premiere will be a success. A year later (2011) there were on 19 and 20 November, as expected, the continuation of the tournament, this time in Manchester and already with 16 participants.

Regulate

  • Instead of 15, there are only 9 red balls, which are arranged as a diamond in the pink ball (the center ball of the diamond is called the Powerball ).
  • When impetus must - as in many of pool variants - at least 2 red balls touch a gang. If this is the case, the abutting player must remain on the table; else is allowed to the opponents at the table.
  • A match lasts 30 minutes. The time starts from the first contact with the red balls, and each is stopped when the last black ball of a frame is perforated.
  • The winner is the player with the most points earned; the number of frames has no meaning.
  • There is a time limit ( shot clock) of 20 seconds per burst.
  • A time foul is punishable by 20 challenge points. The opponent can then accept or can continue the challenge ends.
  • The specially marked middle red ball is the Powerball, the two points already counts. If he punched, count for 2 minutes every perforated balls twice (Power Play). Fires of players during the Power Plays, the opponent gets the remaining time.
  • The Baulk area - the approximate rectangular range between the upper band and the Baulk - line in the upper half of the table from which the break is executed, and which also contains the D - is the power zone. If the ball is played from here out, one each perforated ball twice ( during Power Plays four times). The referee will announce when a shock from the power zone takes place.
  • A foul during Power Plays will be punished with double foul points. If the foul occurs during the power plays and the game ball from the Power Zone was played out, this challenge is then punished analog even with the four -fold challenge points.
  • After a foul the opponent ball in hand throughout the Power Zone has set up (not only in D as in ordinary snooker) and may play the ball as desired in this area.
  • Originally a CenturyBreak was rewarded with a 50 point bonus. If in the subsequent frame again CenturyBreak achieved, the player received a bonus of 100 points and the third frame in a row in which a Century was achieved 200 points. With the Power Snooker Masters 2011 this section was however removed without comment from the rules.
  • Case of a tie at the end of a match (after 30 minutes), the meeting will be decided by a re -spotted black.
