Praxilla

Praxilla (Greek Πράξιλλα ) was a Greek poet in the 5th century BC from Sicyon. She wrote Dithyramben who are lost for the most part. Only one verse in hexameters is obtained. You should have further written a hymn to Adonis as well as wine and revelry poems ( Skolien ). A logaödisches meter, the Praxilleion is named after her. In Antipater List of Ancient Greek poets it is listed in the first place.

Lysippos created a bronze portrait Praxillas, which was placed in their home.
