Premiata Forneria Marconi

Premiata Forneria Marconi ( PFM) is a progressive rock band from Italy, which became known in the 1970s.

History

PFM celebrated their success especially in her native Italy, but also in the British and American charts. They were in the 1970s alongside Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, the only Italian representative of this style who made the leap to the international stage. Their albums Per un amico (1972) and L' isola di niente (1974 ) were re- released in the international market tailored to English versions ( as in Photos of Ghosts, 1973, and as The World Became the World, 1974). The texts written to the King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer - lyricist Peter Sinfield.

Their music included at this time classical and jazz elements and had influences of Genesis and early King Crimson on.

In the 1980s, Italian-influenced pop music PFM then played until they found their way back to the progressive camp in the 1990s. But even with Ulisse (1997), Serendipity (2000), Dracula (2005) and Stati di immaginazione (2006) they were unable to match their previous successes.
