Prießnitz is a district of the city of Naumburg ( Saale) in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

Prießnitz located between Jena and Naumburg ( Saale) on an elevated überlössten farming location south of the Saaleanhöhen at Naumburg.

History

On October 16, 1806 Prießnitz was hit on the edge of the battle of Jena / Auerstedt by French troops. The Prießnitzern was accused: They should have attacked and robbed a Catering Transport of the French. But that was a big mistake. The whole village should be burned and seven young men were shot on the present Angstlatz. But the then minister's son Christian Gottlob Leberecht Grossmann was the French language powerful and so cleared the error on. The seven young men were verschohnt. It was shot over the heads. On this occasion every year is commemorated with a week to 16 October at the former event.

Prießnitz northeast of the small town Camburg was first mentioned between 1210 to 1215. Until 1952 Prießnitz was a part of Thuringia and the district or the county Stadtroda Jena belonging.

The village was from 1 January 2008 until its dissolution on 31 December 2009 to manage Community Wethautal. On 1 January 2010, until then independent municipality Prießnitz was incorporated together with the communities Crölpa - Löbschütz, Janisroda and the town of Bad Kösen in the city of Naumburg ( Saale).
