Priest (manhwa)

Priest is a manhwa series of South Korean illustrator Hyung Min-woo. It tells the paved path of death and destruction of the priest Ivan Isaacs. The director Scott Stewart adapted Priest with Paul Bettany in the lead role and brought the film released in 2011.

Action

The young priest Ivan Isaacs accepts an order and begins with the investigations into the Domas Porada, an ancient relic to which he was made aware by the Vatican. This at a time when he was with a heavy heart between his forbidden love for his adoptive sister Gena and his service on behalf of the church.

Plagued by visions he unraveled after weeks zealous work the cruel secret of the ancient column. It contains the resting place of the once born-again renegade Archangel Temozarela and its mortal enemy Belial. As a result of a demonic ritual of endless hateful Temozarela is unleashed and makes the earth to hell. Ivan himself is now part of the struggle of all those who have fallen away from God. A devilish pact with Belial brings him as undead back to the people. This is instructed by masses of marauding zombie and demon hordes on him. Armed with silver balls and an enchanted blade begins his journey to exact revenge for past events. On his road he keeps a diary.

Publications

Priest appears in individual chapters in the South Korean magazine Comic Champ since 1998. The manhwa was moved in the previous 16 anthologies.

Priest appeared among others in the U.S., France and Germany. The Manhwa appears on German since May 2005 at Tokyopop. So far, 16 volumes have been published.
