Príkra

Príkra ( until 1927 slovak " Prikré "; Hungarian Meredély - to 1902 Prikra ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia. It is very secluded on the border with Poland in the mountains south of the Duklapasses Laborecká Highlands, about 18 km away from Svidník and is currently with 18 inhabitants (2007 ) the smallest municipality of the country.

The village was first mentioned in 1618 as Prika originated from a Walachensiedlung. The Greek Catholic wooden church of St. Michael the Archangel from 1777 is in the village and is a national cultural monument. As late as 1910 the town had 107 inhabitants mainly ruthenischsprachige, after which there was a strong migration, so that the place in 1998 in the meantime only had 5 inhabitants.
