Prince Far I

Prince Far I, actually Michael James Williams, ( born 1944 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, † September 15, 1983 in Jamaica ) was a Jamaican record producer. He is one of the founders of the dub genre. He was producer and singer and is characterized by an exceptionally deep and full-bodied bass voice. Prince Far I was Rastafarian.

On his first records he called himself King Cry Cry. Prince Far I founded in 1978 his own record label Cry Tuff. He published some plates on On-U Sound Records and was Adrian Sherwood's musical mentor.

In 1983 he was shot during a burglary in his home in Kingston. A little later he died of in the hospital.
