Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Alençon

Ferdinand Philippe Marie Duke of Alençon ( born July 12, 1844 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, † 29 June 1910 in Wimbledon ) was a member of the House of Orléans.

Life

Ferdinand was born as the second son of the Duke of Nemours and his wife, the German -born Princess Victoria of Saxe- Coburg- Saalfeld- Koháry, daughter of the Duke of Saxe- Coburg- Saalfeld- Koháry. He was a grandson of King Louis Philippe citizen, who was king in 1830, but lost the throne after the proclamation of the Republic in 1848.

. Ferdinand married on 28 September 1868 in the chapel of Possenhofen the Duchess in Bavaria Sophie Charlotte and thus brother of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The joint compound had two children:

  • Louise Victoire (1869-1952), ∞ Alfons of Bavaria, son of Adalbert of Bavaria
  • Philippe Emanuel (1872-1931), ∞ Henriette Marie of Belgium

1890 Ferdinand acquired lock Mentlberg (Innsbruck ), because he liked to stay up as an avid hunter in the Tyrol. He left in 1905 to rebuild the raised hide in the style of the Loire castles. With his wife Sophie, the Duke often stayed in Mentlberg.
