Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia (1893–1917)

Friedrich Karl, Prince of Prussia ( born April 6, 1893 Glienicke Hunting Lodge at Wannsee, † April 6, 1917 in Saint- Étienne- du- Rouvray, Seine- Maritime) was a German rider. He was part of the German equestrian team, which won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 1912.

Life

He was the son of Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia (1865-1931) and Princess Louise Sophie of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- August Castle ( 1866-1952 ).

He fought in the First World War from 1914 and 1917. He commanded the Fliegerabteilung ( artillery ) 258, but flew with Oswald Boelcke ( 1891-1916 ) as often as possible patrols. In such a flight he was injured on March 21, 1917 at the foot and forced by a hit in the machine to land. Although he ended up in no man's land, but was hit while trying to reach their own lines of Australian troops in the back. The Australians brought him into captivity, where he died of his wounds on April 6, 1917 in Saint- Étienne- du- Rouvray.
