Princess Ida of Saxe-Meiningen

Life

Ida was the second daughter of Duke George I of Saxe- Meiningen (1761-1803) from his marriage to Luise Eleonore (1763-1837), daughter of Prince Christian Albrecht of Hohenlohe -Langenburg. Ida older sister Adelheid later became Queen of England. Her younger brother Bernhard since 1803 Duke of Saxe- Meiningen. Among her siblings Ida her life had a very close relationship.

Ida and her sister were Christian humanitarian under the supervision of her father, and later the mother brought up. Together with her mother and her sister made ​​her outstanding services to the soldiers supply during the war years 1814/15.

She married on 30 May 1816 in Weimar Prince Karl Bernhard of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach ( 1792-1862 ), who served as a general in the Netherlands and she followed in his various garrison towns in the following years.
