Prince Hermann of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1825–1901)

Hermann Bernhard Georg of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach (* August 4, 1825 in the Old flintlock; † August 31, 1901 in Berchtesgaden ) was Prince of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach, Duke of Saxony and Württemberg General.

Life

Hermann was a son of the Duke Bernhard of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach (1792-1862) from his marriage with Ida (1794-1852), daughter of Duke George I of Saxe- Meiningen. He was a nephew of Queen Adelaide of Great Britain.

Hermann joined in 1840 in the Württemberg military school one. He became major general and was commander of the Royal Württemberg Rider Division since 1859. Hermann was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Grand Cross of the House Order of the White Falcon, the St. Stephen's Order and the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown. He is buried in the Prague Cemetery in Stuttgart.

Hermann is named in honor of the Weimar street in Stuttgart.

Marriage and issue

Hermann married on 17 June 1851 in Friedrichshafen Princess Auguste ( 1826-1898 ), youngest daughter of King William I of Württemberg, with whom he had the following children:
