Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands

Petra Laurentien Brinkhorst, Princess of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange- Nassau, wife of Amsberg ( born May 25, 1966 in Leiden, the Netherlands ) is the wife of Prince Constantijn of Orange- Nassau. Since her marriage she is addressed as Your Royal Highness.

Petra Laurentien Brinkhorst is the only daughter of Laurens Jan Brink Horst, a former Minister of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands, and Jantien Heringa. Your school days spent Laurentien Brinkhorst partly in The Hague and later in Tokyo ( where her father worked for the European Economic Community ). After finishing school she studied history at the University of Groningen. She studied political science in London and journalism at the University of California at Berkeley.

Professional activity

Her professional career began Laurentien Brinkhorst 1991 at CNN in Atlanta. In May 1992, she moved to the Belmont European Policy Centre in Brussels and later worked for the tobacco company Philip Morris. In 1997, she was deputy director of a PR firm, and in 2000 member of the board of the Brussels consulting company van Adamson BSMG Worldwide. Between July 2001 and May 2003, you worked for the London office of the company. Since May 2003, she worked for an independent communications consultant in Brussels. She is currently active for the European Climate Foundation.

Family

Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien live with their children in Brussels.

Public appearances

As a member of the Royal Family Princess Laurentien takes true representative tasks. This is particularly the case in the Queen's and the Prinsjesdag.

Social Commitment

Since 2001, the princess sets against illiteracy one (she had already gone to Brussels volunteer teaching for the illiterate ). It would focus on projects that are dedicated to the fight against illiteracy among adults. In addition, it also supports initiatives that promote reading for children and adolescents. On 27 May 2004, founded on their own initiative, Stichting Lezen & Schrijven ( Foundation reading and writing ), which she is President. Since 2009 she is an honorary capacity as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Literacy.
