Princess Maria Leopoldine of Anhalt-Dessau

Marie Leopoldine of Anhalt- Dessau ( born November 18, 1746 Dessau, † April 15, 1769 in Detmold ) was a princess of Anhalt- Dessau and by marriage Princess of Lippe -Detmold.

Life

Marie Leopoldine was a daughter of Prince Leopold II of Anhalt -Dessau (1700-1751) from his marriage with Gisela Agnes (1722-1751), daughter of Prince Leopold of Anhalt- Köthen. A particularly close relationship they had with their sisters Agnese and Kasimire with which they usually lived after her marriage together and separation led an extensive correspondence.

The 18- year-old princess married on September 28, 1765 in Dessau, the twice as old Prince Simon August of Lippe -Detmold ( 1727-1782 ). In his letters to her sisters, she complained her homesickness, so this nachreisten to Detmold. With modernization measures in Detmold castle and Lemgoer court the princess committed personally. Marie Leopoldine died four years after the marriage. Her sister Kasimire 1769 the next Wife Prince Simon August.
