Princess Mathilde of Bavaria (1877–1906)

Mathilde Marie Theresia Henriette Christine Luitpolda Princess of Bavaria ( born August 17, 1877 in Lindau, † August 6, 1906 in Davos ) was a Bavarian princess. She was the sixth child of Ludwig III. and his wife Maria Theresa of Modena.

Life

Mathilde Marie Theresia Henriette Christine Luitpolda was the third daughter of King Ludwig III. of Bavaria and Archduchess Maria Theresia of Austria -Este. It is considered the favorite granddaughter of Prince Regent Luitpold.

The princess married on May 1, 1900 in Munich Ludwig Gaston of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha, a son of Prince Ludwig August of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha and Leopoldina Teresa de Bragança, Infanta of Brazil.

Mathilde died at age 28 in Switzerland ( Davos ) pulmonary distress.
