Protestant Church of Geneva

The Protestant Church of Geneva (EPG, German: Protestant Church of Geneva ) is the organization of the Reformed Church of the Canton of Geneva. The EPG is understood as an association of the Protestant Geneva parishes and parish shaft and is a member of the Swiss Protestant Churches.

History

The Protestant Church of Geneva was established with the adoption of the Reformation in Geneva on 21 May 1536. The original line of the church by the congregation of pastor has been replaced successively 1842-1903 by the parish meetings. In 2013, 60 priests and deacons worked ( including 23 women) in the EPG, which has around 90,000 members.

Structure

The church is divided into seven regions: Arve et Lac, Centre -Ville, Salève, Platform -Champagne, Rhône- Mandement and Jura -Lac, which are divided into a total of 31 parishes. Three of them extend over the whole area of the cantonal church: the deaf community, the ecumenical community of people with a disability and their families, and the German -speaking community.
