Przemysław Gosiewski

Przemysław Gosiewski Edgar ( born May 12, 1964 in Slupsk, † 10 April 2010 Smolensk, Russia) was a Polish politician and since 2001 member of the Sejm in the IV, V and VI. Legislature on the list of the party Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS - Law and Justice ), was Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Jarosław Kaczyński and Chairman of the Group of PiS.

Curriculum vitae

Activity before 1989

He spent his youth in Darłowo. His father was a history teacher and member of the Polish United Workers' Party ( PZPR ); his mother is a pediatrician. From 1983 to 1989 he studied at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdansk. The title of Master, he obtained in 1997. During his studies he started to work in 1984 he joined the Independent Students Association ( Niezależne Zrzeszenie Studentów, NZS ) of the University of Gdansk and took part in the 1988 student strike for the opposition. At this time he first had contact with Lech Kaczyński and in 1989 he began working with his brother Jarosław Kaczyński.

Third Republic

He was hired by Lech Kaczynski, who was vice-chairman of the Solidarity at the time as office manager for the contacts with the regional associations of Solidarity in 1989, a position he held until 1991. He was also involved in the organization of the first national congress of Solidarity after its re- legalization in 1989. Together with the brothers Kaczynski, he founded the party Porozumienie Centrum ( " understanding heart ", PC). From 1991 to 1999 he was secretary of the board of Porozumienie Centrum and in the years 1992 to 1993 Head of Members' offices for the PC deputies Adam Glapinksi. In the 1990s he was involved in the Spółdzielcze Kasy Oszczędnościowo - Kredytowe ( SKOK ), a kind of co-operative bank.

In the presidential elections of 1995 he was a representative of the electoral staff of Lech Kaczyński ( which ultimately prematurely withdrew from the election campaign ). In the same year he started his activity in society Srebrena ( whose board Jarosław Kaczyński and employee Adam Lipiński and Wojciech Jasinski were ) published the magazine Nowe Państwo ( New Statesman ) (where he also worked in the editorial ). From 1998 to 2001 he was a deputy in the Parliament of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and 2000-2001 advisor to Lech Kaczynski, who was then Minister of Justice.

Prawo i Sprawiedliwość

Since 2001 he was a member of the party Prawo i Sprawiedliwość. He organized their structures in the Świętokrzyskie. Since 2001 he was Sejmabgeordneter for PiS. In his first term (2001 to 2005) he was sitting in the commissions of Defence, Justice and Human Rights, as well as investigation committee on the privatization of PZU. In the Sejmwahlen 2005 he won again a seat in Kielce constituency. From 3 November 2005 to 19 July 2006, he was leader of the PiS. Przemysław Gosiewski was married to Małgorzata Gosiewska, a Sejm PiS deputies during the 5th term. After the divorce, he was married for the second time.

Vice Premier and Minister

From 14 July 2006 to 16 November 2007 he was Minister without task pane in Jarosław Kaczyński's government and is also the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ministers.

From 8 May 2007 to 7 September 2007 and 11 September 2007 to 16 November 2007, he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister. From 7 September 2007 to 11 September 2007, he was Secretary of State in the Prime Minister's Office.

Station Włoszczowa - Polnoc

On April 10, 2010 Gosiewski belonged to a Polish delegation headed by President Lech Kaczyński, who was to travel on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre to the memorial to Russia.
