The Posta ve telgraf Teşkilatı Genel Müdürlüğü ( German: Directorate General of Posts and Telegraphs ) or short the Turkish Post, based in Ankara is the largest logistics and mail company in Turkey. History

The first post office of the Ottoman Empire was opened on 23 October 1840 so that the sultans were able to respond to messages from abroad. The post office was located in the courtyard of the New Mosque in Istanbul and was postahane -i -Amir named. The first officer Suleiman Aga took over the service at this post office because he spoke several languages ​​a marine officer and thus was able to translate the messages.
