Pulsar (Band)

Pulsar is a French progressive rock band that was founded in the early 1970s in Lyon.

Band History

Gilbert Gandil, Jacques Roman and Victor Bosch knew each other since the late 1960s, when they came together in a youth club for playing rhythm-and - blues cover versions. Attending a concert by Pink Floyd, however, should a lasting influence on their musical direction. In the early 1970s they started with Philippe Roman Pulsar, Roland Richard came in 1974 to the year after their debut album was released pollen in the British label Kingdom Records. Although Pulsar were often compared to Pink Floyd, showed her symphonic progressive rock with influences from psychedelic rock, space rock and krautrock a certain independence.

In February 1976 Philippe Roman left the band for health reasons and was replaced by Michel Masson. In April shooting began for the second album, The Strands of the Future was released in September. With critical acclaim, 40,000 records sold in six months and a contract with CBS Records, it was the breakthrough for Pulsar. Your ambitious work, Halloween, however, was still to come. The album was under the influence of works by Gustav Mahler and Luchino Visconti and was published in December 1977. It was followed by a European tour.

Since the 1980s, Louis Paralis occupies the post of bassists. Pulsar began a collaboration with musical theater director Bruno Carlucci and Peter Handke adapted welcome the Supervisory Board. After that, it was always quiet around the band, whose members are now increasingly devoted to other musical projects. Pulsar never broke up, but always came back together for gigs and published in 1989 and 2007 albums again.
