Punmu Community

Panmu is an Aboriginal settlement of the Martu in Western Australia in the middle of the Great Sandy Desert, about 600 kilometers southeast of Port Hedland.

The settlement of the Aborigines, which is achievable under good weather conditions in a drive of 8.5 hours from Port Hedland on a dirt road, created in 1981 at Salt Lake Lake Dora in the Rudall River National Park.

The Martu hold since 2002, one of the largest Native Title in Australia, which extends over an area of ​​136,000 km where the Telfer gold mine is located.
