Pure Reason Revolution

Pure Reason Revolution was an English progressive rock band. She played among others opening for Blackfield and Porcupine Tree.

History

In 2003, Jon Courtney founded together with his brother Andrew, Chloe Alper, John Dobson and Gregory Jong the band Pure Reason Revolution at Westminster University in London. With the exception of juggling they had played together previously been in the band Sunset Sound.

After many rehearsals and writing songs was released in 2004 the first single " Apprentice of the Universe". She makes it into the top 20 of the alternative charts and # 74 of the singles chart.

Late 2004 and early 2005, appeared on her own label Holograph two more singles, "Bright Ambassadors of Morning" and "Intention Craft", and an EP, " Cautionary Tales for the Brave ". The latter was only released because the band could not timely complete the recordings for their planned debut album.

In spring 2005, Pure Reason Revolution played a couple of festivals in the U.S. and in England as the opening act for Mew, Hope of the States and Oceansize. Gregory Jong then got out of the band and was replaced by Jamie Willcox. On 10 April 2005, the debut album "The Dark Third " was released, which was generally highest praise from critics.

2006 Andrew Courtney got out of the band and was replaced by Paul Glover. Pure Reason Revolution played hereinafter often referred to as the opening act for Blackfield, among other things, during their European tour.

As of March 2009, the band still consisted of John Courtney, Chloe Alper, Jamie Willcox and Paul Glover. The second album "Amor Vincit Omnia " was released on 6 March 2009 on the label Superball Music. A third and final album ( " Hammer and Anvil " ) was published on October 15, 2010.

On 9 August 2011, the band announced that it will dissolve after a recent UK tour in November 2011. The reason they gave to changing personal circumstances.

Band name

As a name was sought for the band, Jon Courtney busy just with different philosophers such as Kant and Nietzsche. The name Pure Reason Revolution on German Revolution of Pure Reason, derived from Kant's Critique of Pure Reason.

Style

Their music is characterized by the blending of rock music and ambient sounds. The tracks can usually reach lengths of up to 12 minutes, as in progressive rock.
