Quirino Gasparini
Quirino Gasparini ( born October 24, 1721 Gandino ( Bergamo ); † September 23, 1778 in Turin) was an Italian composer.
Life
Quirino Gasparini first studied theology, but decided to devote his life to music and studied with Giovanni Andrea Fioroni (1716-1778) and Father Giovanni Battista Martini in Bologna. After that, he was Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Turin. In 1751 he was admitted as a member of the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna.
Gasparini composed mainly of church music, including a Stabat Mater, which is listed occasionally. He also composed several operas, including " Mitridate re di Ponto " (Turin, 1767) after a Librettto by Vittorio Amadeo Cigna - Santi, the same material was set to music three years later by 14 - year-old Mozart for the Milanese Carnival.
