R. Walter Riehlman

Roy Walter Riehlman ( born August 26, 1899 in Otisco, New York, † July 16, 1978 in Ormond Beach, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1947 and 1965 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Roy Walter Riehlman was born at the end of the 19th century in Otisco. He attended public schools in Tully (New York). After he graduated in 1919 at the Manlius Military Academy and 1921 at the Central City Business School in Syracuse. Between 1921 and 1923 he ran a general store and served as postmaster in Nedrow (New York) worked. It was established in 1923 owned and operated a bakery in Tully. Then he sat between 1933 and 1938 in the Education Committee ( Board of Education ) of Tully and 1938-1943 on the Board of Supervisors of Onondaga County. He then worked 1943-1946 as town clerk ( County Clerk ) in Onondaga County. He sat on the advisory board of Marine Midland Trust Co. in Tully and in the Area Board of Directors at Lynchburg College ( Virginia).

Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1946 Riehlman was the 36th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Clarence E. Hancock on January 4, 1947. He was re-elected twice in a row. Then he ran in 1952 on the 35th electoral district successfully a congress seat to join the succession of William R. Williams on January 4, 1953. There he was re-elected four times in a row. In 1962, he was elected in the 34th electoral district in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Alexander Pirnie on January 4, 1963. On his tenth candidacy in 1964, he suffered a defeat and resigned after January 3, 1965 from the Congress of. Riehlman was Vice President of Lumar Enterprises, Inc. He moved to Ormond Beach, where he died on 16 July 1978. His body was then buried at Tully Cemetery, Tully.
