William R. Williams

William Robert Williams ( born August 11, 1884 in Brookfield, Madison County, New York, † May 9, 1972 in Cassville, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1951 and 1959 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1891 William Williams moved with his parents to Cassville. He attended the public schools in Bridgewater. He then worked 1907-1910 as a salesman for the Standard Oil Company. He then worked in Cassville in agriculture. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1935 and 1943 he sat as an MP in the New York State Assembly; 1943 to 1951, he served as sheriff in Oneida County.

In the congressional elections of 1950, Williams was the 35th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat John C. Davies on January 3, 1951. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3rd, 1959 four legislative sessions. These were determined by the events of the Korean War and the Cold War. Since 1953, Williams took to succeed Clarence E. Kilburn the 34th district of his state.

In 1958 he gave up another Congress candidate. From 1959 to 1961 he was District Chairman of the Republican in Oneida County. Otherwise, he was in Cassville again engaged in farming. There he is on the 9th of May 1972 is deceased.
