The rooms Ash ( Radermachera sinica, Syn. Stereospermum sinicum Hance, Radermachera tonkinensis Dop ) is a species of the genus widespread in tropical Asia Radermachera in the family Bignoniaceae ( Bignoniaceae ). It is also used as a houseplant.

Description

Radermachera sinica grow in the tropics as trees that reach heights of growth of up to about 10 m. The petioles, leaf axils and buds are hairless. The leaves are pinnate and composed two to three times that Blattrhachis has a length of about 30 cm, the lateral part of the petioles leaves are shorter than 5, the terminal has a length of 1 to 2 cm. The partial leaves are ovate to ovate - lanceolate, 4-7 cm long and 2 to 3.5 cm wide. They have no hair, the base is broadly cuneate, the margin is entire, the tip is appendix -like - pointed. On each side of the midrib are five or six lateral leaf veins.

The doldenrispigen inflorescences are terminal, erect, have a length of 25 to 35 cm. The approximately 10 cm long, sloping bracts are linear-lanceolate. The bracts have a length of 4 to 6 cm. The flower has a pentadentate calyx with a length of about 12 cm, the calyx teeth ovate - lanceolate. The crown is white to pale yellow, bell - to funnel- shaped, 6-8 cm long. The calyx lobes are rounded and about 2.5 cm long. The four stamens form of two different forms, there are filiform, sterile stamens present. The ovules are double row, the pen sticking out, the scar is bilobed. The flowering period is between May and September.

The maturing between October to December fruits are nodding, long, rotating round capsules that have a length of about 85 cm and a diameter of 1 cm. The pericarp is thin coriaceous, lenticels are formed only indistinctly. The septum is pushed drehrund and easily. The seeds are elliptical, including the wing about 2 cm x 5 mm in size.

Occurrences and locations

The species is in China in the provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan, as well as Taiwan, Bhutan, India ( Assam, Darjeeling ), distributed in northern Myanmar, and Vietnam. Where it grows on hillsides and in forests at altitudes between 300 and 800 m.
