It is a sound novel text adventure game with action elements, which can be described as the successor to the highly successful game Chrono Trigger. Radical Dreamers represents an abortive to Nintendo of Square Soft's contributions SNES Satellaview add-on system

In the game there is the goal of the hero Serge with the help of two friends to steal the legendary " Frozen Flame ", where the story when a new playthrough ( a so-called " New Game ") splits into multiple paths with different story course. Some elements of the plot of its predecessor, Chrono Trigger be included here.

Originally, the game was released only in Japan and never officially translated into other languages. This is responsible for the low levels of awareness in the West. However, the plot and the characters in Chrono Cross was recycled, which is published in the U.S. and major successes celebrated. There is also an unofficial English translation of the game from Demiforce. On this basis a German version has now been released.

For the soundtrack of the game Yasunori Mitsuda is responsible, who also took over the musical background of the pre-and sequels and with his style helped to shape the mood of the series.
