Radical Party of the Left

The Parti Radical de Gauche (PRG, German radical Left Party ) is a left-liberal and - in contrast to its name - the moderate political party in France. The radical in the name refers historically to the radical rejection of monarchy and the values ​​of the French Revolution.

It was formed in 1972 as a spin-off of the Parti républicain, radical et radical - Socialiste. The PRG, originally founded under the name Mouvement de la gauche Radical - Socialiste ( MGRS, dt movement of the radical socialist left ) from 1974 to 1995 as the Mouvement des radicaux de gauche (MRG, dt movement of the radical left ) and of 1995-1998 as Parti radical - socialiste (PRS, dt radical socialist party ) agierend, holds a certain electorate in the bourgeoisie and the traditional radical regions of Aquitaine, as well as in Corsica, owes its parliamentary representation in the face of force in France electoral system but electoral alliances with the Socialist Party and others.
