Rádio Renascença

Rádio Renascença (RR) [ ʁadiu ʁɯnɐʃsẽsɐ ] (German Radio rebirth ) is a private radio station in Portugal. Owner of Renascença is the Catholic Church in Portugal. The transmitter's program is based primarily on information programs, but also to music with emphasis on the sixties and seventies. The transmitter takes the conservative political direction in Portugal. Musically, however, he offered again and again also a space for innovative or daring DJs, especially in the evening and night program. The well-known radio host António Sérgio began in 1968 at Rádio Renascença, where he in 1976 with his program Rotação (German: rotation) was a pioneer of rock, punk and metal scene in Portugal. History

The Portuguese Catholic Church established Rádio Renascença in 1934 to reach the Catholic faithful better and to transmit the first time services. In June 1936, Renascença first went on the air, first broadcast by a simple transmission tower in the Lisbon area. A month later, the radio stations move into the newly furnished studio rooms in Rua Capello, which are used to today.

After the Carnation Revolution in 1974, the radio station was nationalized in the wake of new economic and regulatory policy at first, but shortly afterwards went back under the leadership of the Catholic Church. 1986 Rádio Renascença began under the name of RFM to send a second channel, which should appeal to the younger audience and continues to play mainly songs from the eighties. In 1997, the station took another channel called MEGA FM in operation that takes as RFM especially music, but it is primarily focused on the current charts. The most powerful transmitter of Rádio Renascença located near Muge, Salvaterra de Magos circle in 39.119939N 8.711472W transmitting on 594 kHz with 100 kW output power. The antenna a 259 meters high, even radiant transmission tower is used, which is the tallest structure in Portugal.
