Rædwulf of Northumbria

Rædwulf (also Raedwulf, Redulf ) was 844 or 858 for a short time King of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Northumbria.

Life

About its origin is not known, but it is possible that he is a relative of Osberht and Aelle that should be king after him.

The chronology of his reign is not entirely clear. The older research was based on 844, but recent research suggests Kirby and Rollason on 858 out.

The embossed by Rædwulf stycas ( silver coins with very low fines content) were of such poor quality material that you can refer to them as brass currency. Despite his short reign was maintained over 80 pieces of his stycas.
