Raelene Boyle

Raelene Boyle AM, MBE ( Raelene Ann Boyle, born 24 July 1951 in Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian track and field athlete and Olympic silver medalist.

In 1970, she won a total of three gold over 100 m, 200 m and the 4 × 100 m relay at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

In her second Olympic participation at the Games in Munich in 1972, she won the silver medal in the 100 m race behind the German Renate Stecher and before the Cuban Silvia Chivas and the silver medal in the 200 m race behind Renate Stecher and before Irena Szewińska.

In 1974 she won at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch again three times in total gold in the 100 m, 200 m and the 4 × 100 m relay; at the Commonwealth Games 1978, silver over 100 meters. In the Commonwealth Games 1982 in Brisbane, she won gold in the 400 -meter run and gold with the team in the 4 × 400 m relay.

After she finished her sporting career without being able to make their dream of an Olympic gold medal true, and worked as a landscape gardener. 1996 was diagnosed with breast cancer Boyle. In 1998 she became a founding member of the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation, which raises funds for the fight against cancer.
