Rafael Gordillo

Rafael Gordillo Vázquez ( born February 24, 1957 in Almendralejo, Badajoz ) is a former Spanish footballer. His preferred position was initially the left side defense. During his career he also played often in the defensive midfield. He earned the nickname because of his running strength El Caballo ( the horse ).

Career

Rafael Gordillo began his career in the youth of Betis Sevilla; at the Andalusians he finally debuted on January 30, 1977 in a game against FC Burgos in the first team. In the same season the club achieved the victory in the Copa del Rey.

Gordillo quickly made ​​a name in Spanish football, and after eight years in professional team of Real Betis left-back finally moved to Real Madrid.
